Develop shipbuilding innovations

Innovation aid for shipbuilding is granted to companies operating in the shipbuilding sector. Funding can be used to develop and market advanced ship or offshore solutions.

Innovation aid for shipbuilding

Innovation aid for shipbuilding is a government subsidy aimed at safeguarding and enabling innovations in shipbuilding. The aim of the grant is to create innovations that are new in the sector or are improvements over its current leading solutions.

The grant may not exceed 25% of the eligible costs defined in the Government Decree. For a single project, we will grant up to EUR 25 million. Innovation aid for shipbuilding is a grant that we pay in installments according to the schedule defined in the financing decision, based on the progress of the project. Your company does not need to repay the grant.

Applications for innovation aid must be submitted before the ship order is placed, but the aid is granted after your company has received the order.

What is required of your company?
  • Your company is engaged in shipbuilding, ship repair, ship modification or building floating and moving offshore structures.
  • Your company is registered in Finland and it has an office in Finland.
